Main Reasons Why Digital Is Taking Over Traditional Marketing

Updated: Mar 17, 2020

Before we discuss the reasons why digital marketing is taking over traditional marketing, let us first discuss what is traditional marketing.

What is Traditional marketing?

Traditional Marketing is the type of marketing that involves advertising, promotion, publicity, public relation that will lead to sales by using platforms such as television, radio, prints, billboard, to distribute marketing tactics. But what happens when consumers' media consumption suddenly goes online?

For some of us, television is now the black thing in our living room, radio is where we put our vase, prints are now used to cover our old things and billboards are now giant kites whenever there's a typhoon.

With the rise of the internet & social media platforms, another type of marketing is being used, which we call, Digital Marketing. We now consume entertainment through different digital channels.

Now, let’s define what Digital Marketing is all about.

Digital marketing & traditional marketing are the same but digital marketing uses, search engines, social media, email, podcasts, and other online platforms to promote your campaign.

Our attention now are not on the traditional way but we are more on the digital space where we scroll through our news feed and see our friends taking on a vacation on a different country, expressing our opinion to the world, taking selfies while drinking our coffee, and even creating a social media account of your pet who has more followers than you.

Now let us go back to our main topic; Main Reasons Why Digital Is Taking Over Traditional Marketing

1.Targeting

Traditional marketing has shown its effectiveness in the past decades. But, it has one problem. You can't pinpoint your campaign precisely to your desired audience and wait for months hoping that your campaigns will reach the majority of your target audiences.

The great thing about digital marketing is that you can target your desired audience with what you offer, promote, and introduce your business to them. and turn them into potential customers based on their buying intent using tools such as Google ads where targeting your audience can easily be done just by using keyword they use on search engines and optimizing those keywords on your website and with Facebook ads, you can target whoever, whenever, and wherever you want to be based in their demographics and psycho-graphics.

2 Engagement

In every business, it is important to make your customers feel that they are part of the community. One way to make them feel that way is through communication. With the use of different social media platforms, we can easily connect to our potential customers by reading their comments, messages, reviews, and social media posts. Also, it will help us in coming up with new ideas for our branding and how to build rapport with the market.

Unlike traditional marketing platforms such as billboards, billboard doesn’t have a conversation with you. If billboards talks to you, visit your nearest psychiatrist.

3. Cost-effective

Traditional marketing platforms are known to be expensive, running an advertising campaign on television can really put a dent on your marketing budget. It ranges up to a hundred to a hundred million dollars depending on the time of the day, broadcast range, potential viewers, and what TV shows it will appear.

All while digital marketing boast its performance with cost-effective tools

Such as SEO, Social Media Marketing, Content Marketing, Email Marketing, Visual content, Webinars, Pay-Per-Click Advertising, and Webinars that will surely deliver more value than it should be.

4.Influencer marketing

Influencers or the Celebrities of social media, are the people who will help you spread the awareness of your brand and what products and services you offer to the people who follow them. They will endorse your product who are in your niche or who are interested in your niche. With their influence, they can turn their followers into your customers as well as using their voice to create trust in your brand.

5. Tweaking

Imagine if you post something on Facebook and you’re late to recognize that you had written “your” instead of “you’re” and to edit it, you have to wait for weeks by that time, many people will assume that you missed your mother’s milk. Isn’t it frustrating if Facebook works that way?

In Traditional Marketing, you lack the power to change what you wish to add on your advertisement on time. But Gone are the days where it would take time and cost money to change the campaigns you already produced.

In today's new era, where technology is advance and still advancing, revising such advertisement can be done with just one click. In a manner that is not gonna hurt your time and budget.

Digital Marketing has become part of our daily lives and with the rise of technology, it continues to seeps into our society and culture. We are now in the digital world where the way we look at products and services has changed. We can instantly decide whether the product or services have value to us or not.

Businesses have now the power to harness their potential in which they can connect with their target audience around the globe and with Alpha Digital Marketing and Creative Services we bring services has more value more than it should cost.
